Our values
NRIT values are embedded in and woven through the actions we take to achieve successful outcomes for our Iwi members.
Taking responsibility for our environment embracing our spiritual and cultural guardianships of Te Ao Māori. NRIT will ensure to create, clean and provide safe and healthy environments by promoting the protection and restoration of our natural environments.
Strengthening our connection with each other. NRIT will ensure to encourage relationships between our whanau, hapu, iwi and other organisations.
Working together and building a unity of purpose. NRIT will ensure to avoid making decisions and approaches that lead to division and disharmony.
Relates to sovereignty, autonomy, control, self‐determination and independence. The notion of Tino Rangatiratanga asserts and reinforces the goal of Kaupapa Māori initiatives allowing NRIT to control our own culture, and aspirations.
Asserts the centrality and legitimacy of Te Reo Māori, Tīkanga and Mātauranga Māori. Within a Kaupapa Māori paradigm, these Māori ways of knowing, doing and understanding the world are considered valuable. NRIT are mindful in that acknowledging taonga tuku iho, it also allows for spiritual and cultural awareness.
Acknowledges the mana of others through the expression of aroha and manaakitanga. NRIT will ensure that we will work together harmoniously, treat each other with respect and act with integrity whereby the care and welfare of whanau, hapu and marae are important.
Defining the relationships and connectedness when gathering and collecting information and knowledge. NRIT is committed towards developing co‐operation and unity by assisting whanau, hapu and marae to establish and maintain their connections to their own whānau and whenua.
